First off, I want to say I'm not sure if this has already been looked into, but I'd like to ask anyway...

Secondly, this may turn out to be very !!SCIENTIFIC!! for anyone willing to participate.

My question is: When making rooms, such as bedrooms, dining rooms, offices, tombs etc. the walls add to the value of the room. I would like to know how much exactly SMR walls add to the value of the room. If anyone knows, please, let me know. If anyone has any bright ideas for how to test this easily (Prob. easiest to simply make a room and test, but since I dont know of the values of different walls/floors, I will have a hard tim at it) feel free to tell, or test it yourself.

If anyone knows how DF counts the walls/floors values, as well as smoothings/engravings in them, please tell them as well.

It shouldn't be very hard to figure out.  First calculate how much the 'normal' parts of the room add to the value, and then whatever's left is what comes from the SMR.

Take a look at the value-pages of the wiki for a good head start on how to engraving values are probably calculated)( http://df.magmawiki.com/index.php/Value ), as well as look into the raws for the values of the stone.  Stone-types that lack a value tag, if any, are likely all given a default value of 1.

Having never dug clear to it, I am apparently misunderstanding how Semi-molten-rock works. Doesn't it generate magma, much like an aquifer does (along with the obvious "destroying whatever it touches")?

Semi-molten rock doesn't cause fires and doesn't even have a dangerous temperature.  It cannot be mined and basically serves as an indicator of the magma sea and HFS.

Semi-molten rock is untouchable.  You can't dig through it.  It doesn't necessarily have magma near it.  If you find SMR, it generally means "whoops, you dug down through a place with no magma -- back up 10-30 levels, then move over some, and try again."

Warm stone, on the other hand, means there is magma in at least one of the adjoining tiles (up, down, north, south, east or west -- I don't think diagonals get warm).  And you can dig through warm stone.
