A Memorial for the Lost
« on: March 11, 2011, 01:28:49 pm »

Write a memorial for your lost adventurer dwarf, etc!

Jacos Stirape, Jacos Rageeye,
A foreigner from distant lands,
Axe wielding,
Comrade shielding,
Brave warrior of harsh lands.
Killed many evils,
From jungles to hills,
Fell to the arrow of a goblin.

Every few miles, [the dwarves] stop the cart.  One of the dwarfs (sic) gets off, digs a hole down below the dirt layers, licks the bedrock, and then they know exactly where they are.  It's called GPS: Geological Piquancy Sampling.

Killer of many Wicked Women and their assorted consorts
Deadly wielder of the silver axe
Once chased a bandit boss around a tree
Died heroically killing an infamous warlord
Impaled horrifically by a willow spear

Dear Urist McCentaur.

You wielded bows.
You had allies.
You destroyed many beasts without getting harmed.
You never showed any mercy.
However, nor did the Bogeymen that tore you apart, one by one.

Praise the Miners!

Because of you we have struck the earth
Your tireless efforts, unequaled in worth
Because of you, our fortress is grand
When in the beginning, you were digging only sand
But persistence paid off
Gems, and ore, and greater
Our fortress flourished
Much sooner than later
All because of you
Our stalwart, humble miner
You dug deeply
There will never be finer
But alas, your gift was your bane
For you dug too deep
And unleashed only pain
But we sealed them back down
Back into the deep
But you were first to fall
And we will surely weep
Because we lost a miner
Not any miner, mind you
But the one who dug deep
The one with socks of blue
Praise the miners!
But praise one more
Because we've lost a legend
Whose name will go down in lore

Dedicated to the embark miner who lasted longer than any of my other embark dwarfs on my longest fortress (41 years) ever.

You were a miner in some godforsaken hole
But in your dreams you w o andered the world
Obliterating every single trace of foe
By whom your bloody pick was feared the most

Now though your body lies among dismembered wretch
Thy deep-scarred face bears marks of utter rest
For you were known as legendary sage
Hence all these fucking brains you had expelled

See you in hel, you scurwy dog.

Thou hath sinned, Thou hath slain innocents.

Thou sought redemption in the way of crusading.

Thou hath slain many beasts in thy lifetime.

But there was one who stood to challenge you.

                                                                              The mighty Hyrda Stozusashar Ezeninum.

A mighty beast 5000 years of age, you accepted his call.

With one blow you severed two of his foul heads.

With one lunge his wicked claw pierced your heart.

With one last redeeming breath you reached into his chest.

And pulled out his beating heart.

                                                                                                Thou Art Redeemed.

A commodity appears at first sight an extremely obvious, trivial thing. But its analysis brings out that it is a very strange thing, abounding in metaphysical subtleties and theological niceties.

THOB BEARDRAGE is your name,
my dear beloved axe lord.
During your life you achieved great fame,
and that without a friendly cohort!

You were tasked to wipe a camp,
and boy, did you ever!
However, a sneaky human, that vile scamp,
he bit your hand, and a nerve did he sever!

After kicking him in the brain,
you went to claim you reward.
Travelling through wind and rain,
without as much as a snort!

Several months have passed,
after singlehandedly slaying many great beasts,
the lord was by a bandit leader being harassed,
and you promptly collapsed in laughter. And sneezed.

"Such a task is nigh beneath me!"
You thought, in a moment of pride.
However, as fate would have it be,
severe was the prize of being snide.

During your usual assault,
where your rage goes horribly unrestrained,
suddenly someone yelled "halt,"
and with a crossbow bolt you got brained!

"Dirty stinking cowards!" you uttered,
albeit in total vain,
for none of it mattered,
because you had a bolt stuck in your brain!

Dirty stinkin' crossbowmen. Good thing i had saved not too long ago. :U

Ospaz Lashdrink, that was his name.
A powerful werewolf.
You were huge,
but to that shadow creature, you were just refuse.

Your arms were broken, and you caught a fever,
But the time when you stopped fighting was never.
Your only offensive attack was your bite,
and it made many bandits tell themselves "Goodnight."

You would have won, had your focus not been too low.
It was the fever that caused that,
and he caught that disease somehow, but how?

Ngon Estuxuku, the False Naughtiness of Gullies
A gray werewolf you were
Scarred was your fur
Horribly mishapen by dents
Many of your bones were bent
Your left paw missing, your right one damaged
Dispite this, you never gave in a fight
For many bandits, you took out their light
Kobolds attacked you, the little blights!
You slayed a giant, with help of your orc friend
His carving knife, he refused to lend  >:(
Soon, you found the jungle titan
A giant feathered flying leach with webs
It killed your friend, and eyed you
It tore off your right hand, blood did spew
It turned your death screw
As you shuffled of the mortal coil
You will be remembered for your years of toil.
