I made a aquifer-reservoir-well pump system for my above-ground village (the river was contaminated because a chicken got eaten by carp) and a few seasons later some carp appeared in the water reservoir and scared the shit out of some idlers. Did i put the reservoir too near the river? :P

P.S. They were in the well too

The most unusual thing in my current fort is probably the triplets a smelter had.

That's not weird.  Build other workshops until he claims.  It tends to be odd things like glass kilns and stuff.

Kobold thief enters the fortress, just as my legendary hunter is leaving.

Kobold thief runs away, hunter chasing - he shoots the kobold in the right upper arm, right upper leg, right lower leg, right upper arm again, left lower leg, left upper arm, left upper leg, left upper arm again, right upper leg again, left lower leg, and right upper arm (again).

Then he shoots both the kobold's ears off.

Then he leaves.

Kobold thief drags himself off the map (he ended up only two squares away from the edge) before my military can get there.

Engraved at the bottom of my death pit is a goblin falling to his death.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I doubt the goblins are ever confused about the pit's purpose, eh?

Miners with moods will always go for masonry workshops.

ANYWAY. I was digging out a funtube a while ago, and for some reason my miner suddenly started bleeding. Somehow - the exterior of the tube hadn't been breached - there was a pocket of magma embedded in the funstuff. He dug out the wall and it was full of magma. There was no possible way it could have gotten in from outside. Just a single 7/7 tile of magma popping out of a wall of adamantine and killing my best miner.
