BONAPARTE - THE BATTLE FOR POWER AND FREEDOM

We're back in the year 1789, the French Revolution has just begun. Now you're getting the chance to step into Napoleon's shoes.

Chose one out of 5 nations (France, Prussia, Austria, Russia or Great Britain) and lead them through the oncoming 70 years. 1 to 5 players may play from one computer. Furthermore, you may re-play historical scenarios.

FUNCTIONS:

- Lead wars on sea and on the ground.
- Lead war with up to 4 different armies and 2 marine units
- Lead the battle for 40 different regions
- Take climate, the population's wealth and the region's population into account
- Issue letters of marque for pirates
- Establish the tax burdens for the '3 Estates'
- Arrange fairs to win the estates' favor.
- Invest in research in 4 categories and earn up to 25 advancement score points
- Protect your own life by secret service and guards
- Choose between 5 state orders after researching their advantages and disadvantages
- Build a palace for you and your descendants
- Secure your successoion by marriage and children
- Consolidate your children's supreme position in order to assure the survival of your dynasty
- Invest in the regions of your nations in order to increase your wealth
- Watch out for your import / export profits
- Obtain and maintain diplomatic relations to the 5 most important nations
- Execute secret plans in order to weaken your opponent
- Have a look at the extensive statistic listings of each nations
- increase your reputation and gain a title
- Beat the high score
- Fight rebellious countries
- Experience personal and country specific events

The game is fairly simple, but quite challenging. Maintaining control of your nation isnt so easy, and you can be assassinated/attacked which makes it harder. The military system is simple but works well - You have 2 armies and garrisons in provinces. The armys can be used to attack but not defend, the garrisons defend against enemy armies.
Fleets work the same only at sea.

I'll do a quick LP of this! I't is possible I could host this as a quasi-forum based game where people take a nation after.
As usual, ideas/strategies/comments welcome

The units are:

Cannon
Cavalry
*Guards
Infantry

Generally, having all of these higher than the enemy is good. However, they attack in order from top to bottom on the list I think(with the first one being chosen as strategy).

That said, you can defeat a larger army with more artillery for example, using the artillery first to damage the enemy and weaken it enough for the smaller amount of infantry to destroy them!

*Guards can fight rebels in provinces when put in militia(or are more effective).

-Attacked Eastern Spain, massing artillery destroyed their army and we won easily.
-Drafted 4 more cavalry to our army from Northern France.
-Raised second and first estate taxes by 5% each.

Events:
Plague in western france - -2000 money containing it, -2 population.
New fishing grounds found off the coast of sothern italy, wealth increases by 2.

Rebels in Eastern Spain are arrested, reducing the number to 1.
Rebels in Algeria are killed, reducing the number to 3.

Austria and Russia accepted alliance offers from us, Spain will be ours.

Feb

-Western Spain is conquered.

Events:
The third estate are dissatisfied.
Rebels in Algeria reduced to 2.
Austria have broken the alliance and declared war.

Austria attacked Southern Italy...  they succeeded!
Austria attacked Ottoman Greece, they took Greece! :/

Algeria and Spanish rebels decrease.
Research on Economics increases 10%.

A thieving bastard stole 2000 money from our coffers!

April

-Attacked Southern Spain, failed

Events:
Someone is poisoning me!!
I increased my secret services, we must catch these buggers.

The third estate are rebellious! an assassin wounded me, but the guards caught him.
Prussia and GB are at war!

GB attacks the Ottomans in Libya... and succeeds!

Epidemics in eastern spain and west france, -4 pop total. I'm still being poisoned!

-We retook Southern Italy from Austria.

Prussia and Russia are at war!

Britain and Prussia declare war on us.

We conquer Portugal.

Taxes reduced 5% on the third estate.
I was badly injured in a popular revolt  : (

Austria and Russia are at war.

Russia conquered Bulgaria and Hungary from Austria.

We lost Portugal to Britain and West and North France is occupied by Prussia!

We retook the west.

I was killed by assassin.

If anyone wants to play this forum based MP, we need between 1 and 5 players!
*The computer can still be on some of them if we don't get 5 people.

Might I ask how you propose to do this MP? Everyone with the game, or will be you acting as GM for us and playing that way instead?

I would do the actions etc, paste screens of everyones turns as they come in. Combat would be their choices, example:

France attacks eastern spain, chooses to mass infantry(Their infantry fights first).

British player in eastern spain can then say, i will mass cannons(their cannons fire first).

Everything else just can be ordered.

Large investment in london, move this amount of units from garrison to army or vice versa.

Ill provide a list of every province and the units in it, so everyone knows what is where. Theres no fog of war and the game is simple, so it wouldnt be too hard.


I'll make a list of all the actions people can do, such as move units to army/from army. Spy missions, diplomacy, economy etc.
