As per the topic. I have dug to the magma, but haven't yet built any lava forges/smelters/whatever. Maybe he's wanting to use one of those? His highest skill is metalsmithing, and he's a competent carpenter. I built EVERYTHING I could as his likes are a grab bag. He just stands in the well room, doing nothing. Anyone have any idea what's wrong?

Edit: He just went insane. I do have a save from near when he first got the mood, if it would be useful to Toady.

He probably wants a non-metalworking shop, like leatherworking.

I did build ALL workshops. Not just metalworking ones.

If I'm reading the OP right, he has those, too - every workshop except for lava, not just every forge.

Once you reach the lava, possessed metalsmiths WILL stop using regular forges and look for a lava forge instead.

Bah. I dug ahead to scout out the terrain, even now I'm still nowhere near ready to setup lava forges. They really should look for a non-lava one if they can't find a lava sort.
