Can someone kindly explain to me how the burial system works my dwarfs always end up in the corpse stock pile and i heard you can engrave slabs to get rid of ghosts but i don't know how to do that. or how to get them buried in the coffins i've made. I failed to make my drawbridge in time for the siege.

If you happen to get a ghost wandering around, create slab at mason's shop and engrave it with the name of the ghost. And build it somewhere.

i have lots i just dont know how to engrave the slab. i think i am doing something wrong.

It helps to hit "x" on the build slab choice screen.  This allows you to see which slab is for which dwarf.  Especially helpful if you have a bunch of blank slabs laying around.

Actually, its:
- Make Coffin (or Sarcophagus)
- Place in room to use as a tomb
- Enable burial (with q)

Putting the coffin in a cemetary zone is optional.
