Grazer in Winter
« on: February 23, 2011, 01:13:29 pm »

Hello, I am wondering about Grazing in Winter. I embarked with quite a bit of grazers (new feature in 3.19). As fall is arriving, I'm wondering whether I need to 1) shelter them inside for the winter (in a temperate zone) and whether 2) the snow will prevent them from eating, if so, will the grass grow in winter or should I set them up in larger pastures.

There must be a bunch of people here who have gone through a winter in the new version.

Of course, finding out is the the dwarven thing to do... and alpaca meat must be delicious... but still.

Nothing screams "Christmas" quite like a new release of DF.

Well, grass is growing now underground in the most entertaining locations. I'm just not sure that growing winter pasture inside would be enough to feed the beast for a whole season. (Especially that I'm thinking about this as the leaves are turning yellow).

Sounds like we'll be wanting a way of getting animal feed soon. :P

I am going to copy the chicken entry and rename everything chocobo and make it 100x the size of a normal chicken and make it rideable.  Too bad our dwarves probably wont ride them. >_>
