Basically, dwarves won't fish or drink from a bridge unless the bit of bridge they are standing on is built on top of the cavern floor. I can't see why this would be intentional, and it nearly dehydrated my fortress - it certainly has them taking a stupid route to get a drink at the moment, I had to unlock another place where I hit the river

All of that code has been gutted now, since the maps handle water areas differently.  I haven't rewritten it yet (since I haven't done indoor features), but I'll note to keep this in mind.
