Caravan and loyalty cascade
« on: February 22, 2011, 07:43:36 am »

I'm a bit curious about how the loyalty cascade works.

If I have dwarven caravan in my depot, and they turn insane due not being able to get out, can I safely order my squads to kill them wihtout fear of loyalty cascade? I know that the mountainhome don't like the slaughter of caravan, but can I actually order my squad to kill the insane traders and their guards? Or do I have to wait and hope that they attack my soldiers instead? Or do I just have to hope that they die naturally to dehydration and starvation?

You know, they could teach maths like this at school. "There are 105 dwarves in a settlement. A goblin invasion appears and 67 die. Then a migrant wave..."

If you order your military to attack a non-berserk merchant, you will start a loyalty cascade. The only way to safely kill them (aside from letting them starve/dehydrate) is to use the environment (cave-in, drowning, magma, etc.) or wildlife.

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.
