Cave story was heart breaking. Expecialy if you don;t save curly in the under water cave part.

Kamiya Kaoru's fake death made me depressed for a week until I bought the next issue and found out she was alive. The image of her "death" actually made me shiver and get really, really cold inside. My parents kept asking me what was wrong because I was acting realy weird all week. It may not have been an actual death but at the time I seemd like she was dead and that can crush a soul too.

Not so much soul crushing but probaly spirit breaking. While playing little Big Planet 2, I lead some freindly little robots to their early demise by runnning under what was supposed to be an obvious trap. All but 1 of the 20 died in a squeaky little death scream. In a game all about the fun anf joy, that killed the fun.

Depending on the ending one gets in FF X-2, the ending can be really happy or just plain depressing.
