I'm getting some annoying announcement flood.

Any help? This has been going on for a year and it's ruining the game for me. Can't find the important announcements because of the cancelling flood.

You get those plenty in the late game, not much you can do about it aside from canceling the jobs of all your dwarves

I have, what, about 50 dwarves and all those announcements came in a few seconds.
So.
Any ideas?

It simply means that nobody can find anything. What was there is no longer there, or you simply ran out. Not much you really can do besides retask everyone.

I'm pretty sure in the orders menu you can turn off job cancellation messages.

The item was moved after the dwarf was assigned the task to haul the object, and so they cannot find the object.

Are you using bridges to fling/drop things or water to push things?

Was there a cave-in recently?

None of those. Just normal growing fortress life and a few mandrills killed by caravan guards.

But it also hides the more useful job cancellation notices. Like, monsters approaching. With the messages turned off, you might not notice it until someone has been struck down.

I've been very inactive and I just grabbed a picture of an emu from Google Images. Didn't know someone had already taken it.

I suspect that your problem may come from the fact that you have too many "repeat" jobs, which can cause dwarves to "fight" for the same items.

You could use the announcement.txt, in the init folder, to hide these announcements while keeping the other important ones visible.
