woodcutters can't be axedwarfs??

So if I make a squad of axedwarfs with battleaxes and training axes (assigned weapon types as their uniform) and then tell them to chop wood am I setting myself up for trouble?  Likewise for marksdwarfs sent out to hunt?

I keep seeing posts warning about mixing civilian duties that require tools with military jobs, but it seems like the woodcutters are just right for axedwarfs.

They are fine, just disable woodcutting labor when you draft them otherwise they might bounce between the two uniforms, so they'll pick up an axe, put it down ad infiinitum

I don't know if this pertains to woodcutters/axemen, but my hunter stopped hunting when I assigned a crossbow to be used as a militia commander. The crossbow/quiver were claimed by the militia commander, and the arrows were claimed by the hunter so he failed to perform either job.

If you feel like trying something out, disable all of the woodcutting professions, forbid all the metal axes, assign woodcutting jobs, reclaim all of the axes when the woodcutters have their axe and job ready, then assign axes as the military uniform. It might not be necessary, but if you run into any problems this might help.

That or it might be as simple as keeping two of every item used by both jobs.
