Fort-breaking bug: Super Acquatic creatures
« on: November 08, 2007, 03:01:00 am »

I found an underground pool that seemed pretty cool.  Lots of webs and stuff, just a couple of lizards and olmans I gotta kill to clear it out.  Sounds simple, right?  Well, when the battle actually took place my dwarves got slaughtered by the dozens.  It turns out all of these critters have super hiked up stats.  I presume that they were training up the swimming skill the whole time while I was building up my fort and then breached the cave.  The pool was revealed, but not actually tackled in any form for a long while.

the dwarves would come up to it to collect some webs, see a lizardman, and run.  The lizardmen and other things would just chill in the pool and ignore the dwarves.  When the dogs decided to sit and stare at them and start chewing on cave spiders, it became a huge labor drain from all of the people trying to pick up spider corpses.

So yes.  The next fort, I'm not approaching _any_ more pools with crocs or lizardmen or anything non-vermin for that matter.
