A question regarding caverns and the Z-Levels above ..

How do I get them to be lower? I understand it is in the '' Design world with custom parimeters '' thingie but how?

Raised it to 30, hit cavern at 13?

Generate a map without oceans or lakes, then embark in lowlands.

I think it counts from the bottom of the cavern, try raising it more.

I must say its a bit better, but still ..

I am guessing you are embarking on terrain that has varied z-levels.  This will displace the caverns and reduce the z levels above the caverns, so you either need to add more levels in the parameters, or embark on flatter terrain.
