Massive Lag in a Tiny Fortress
« on: February 02, 2008, 11:40:00 am »

So I'm revisiting an old fortress, fresh last game. However it lasted a mere two years and was so tiny. I'm here as an adventurer, and I'm trying to look for the fortress but failing as every step gives me excruciating lag. Step time can range from 1 to 10 seconds. Average would be like, 2 or 3.

Is this normal?

If the fortress were any bigger, than would the lag be much worse?

There are some things that may run amok when you're in adventure mode, that didn't when you were in the fort. Flows, for example. I once revisited a fort, and was rather surprised to find water gushing out of every manhole underground.

In general, the usual reasons intense lag might be generated are large flows, and buggy pathfinding of creatures.
