Captain Forever... again!
« on: August 16, 2010, 03:20:53 pm »

So I found Captain Forever, and I saw that the thread hadn't been posted in for... forever (/funny).

Anyway, thoughts on the game?

This is my most recent ship:

Small, but very powerful.

The game can be found here, and is a free in-browser space shooter/ship design game.

Has there been any new features or parts added since it first came out? It's a really fun game, but after a few days of non stop playing there just wasn't any reason to carry on with it.

Not sure about how long are you following, but there are actually 3 games - Captain Forever, Captain Successor and Captain Impostor. Captain Successor is basically Captain Forever with new parts. Captain Impostor has completely different system of changing your ship, you can not add or remove parts, but you can mirror any ship you meet.

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

Double post!

I made a pretty good ship, but it still didn't stand a chance against a guy from the next tier.

Enemy ships never give me the time to build :(
Or the sneak up on me and destroy the part that I modified.

Yeah, lots of running is necessary. You also get a short reprieve every time you go up a "level" of wantedness to rebuild using all the new parts you get. I also find it useful to do sort of a "snatch and grab", where you can click on a floating piece and high-tail it out of there while still holding onto it. When you get to a safe spot, you can attach it in peace.

Yes, there is a forth on the way.

Captain Jameson will introduce the transportation of passengers, establishment of stations, and much more. As some might be able to deduce from the installment's title, this one takes more inspiration from the Elite series of space trade games.

Make a spoon-like design, trap parts inside, haul them away, build a ship you like and then just replace part when you find better

Highest level parts are Hotel level, the outer shell and torpedoes. I shortly scrappeda Juliet level vehicle (named "Car") but then Rainbow level Po-Po shot my ass to pieces with those fancy death machines for lasers.
