@Timmy Time: What?
« on: February 07, 2011, 07:12:34 am »

I was watching Timmy Time this morning (don't ask), an educational show that took place in a school.

On all the walls, there were pictures that the children had painted, and there was one of a dinosaur with teeth dripping with blood.  :-\

I know, I know, but still, quite ghastly for a show intended for 5 year olds

I don't get it. Am I supposed to be morally outraged? Because I'm not quite getting that.

When I was 5 - 10 years old I drew violent stuff all the time, so did my friends. It was mostly stick figures fighting gory battles over fortified islands.

I would only find it odd if it wasn't a therapod as they were generally the only predatory dinosaurs. The child would need a stern lecture on taxonomy.

Most kids around that age are surprisingly bloodthirsty. I guess it's just the time when we would start learning about hunting back in prehistory.

Yeah, i have a nine year old cousin which was introduced to AvP when he was six or seven years old, he's still a great fan, and not just AvP but all violent movies and games, plus he's pretty energetic and a bit on the crazy side, reminds me of myself when i was younger :)

Your children will be ... interesting...

Me too, until the school VP gave me and my friends a lecture. Haven't drawn anything since!

... I look forward to your children.  Seriously, that's kind of similar to how I'd raise any kids I happened to impose myself on.

Just found this thread, and yeah.  When I was in first grade, we had an ongoing project throughout the year to write and illustrate "books", consisting of crappy drawings with a sentence on each page.  My award-winning magnum opus was about Dinosaurs, featuring a two-page splash of a T-Rex totally devouring some hapless dino pal.
