I was swimming in an inland ocean to a volcano in the middle, would be an awesome place for a fort, when suddenly weird stuff happened. Water rose in repeating bands, causing aggravating falling in and out, and massive water flow. I suspect it has to do with a failed worldgen last time. Any possible information would be appreciated.

[EDIT: Yep, looks pretty corrupted. There's a flooded cavern in the ocean. I had thought it might have been something mundane like an aquifer. Now Exploring for ‼science‼]
