I don't want to squint at a tiny screen!
« on: February 13, 2011, 09:13:30 am »

How do I increase the size of the game screen/UI/display/whatever you call it?  I'd like to play it full screen, and I mean full screen (as in not a tiny little screen in a maximized window.)

when I maximize the window, the game screen grows with it - as soon as I am in game. The menu stays small.
Also, press tab a couple times to remove the mini-map on the right side.

This is Dwarf Fortress, not some pansy game that you can actually win.

What should I do if it doesn't grow with the window?

You can zoom in and out with the mousewheel. If that's disabled for you, you can enable that in the d_init or init file, I forget which.

You also might want to just install a tileset with large tiles. Check out the wiki, there are plenty available.

Which tile set would you recommend for Sdonourg's Mixmod?

From the description of the event, I think that your copy of Dwarf Fortress was on drugs when this happened. That's surely the only logical explanation for a human werewolf with deadly farts dying from it's own excrement after slaughtering some goblins comrades.

press F11 ingame, to switch between fullscreen and windowed mode.

Edit: also, the game's main menu screen does not scale with a bigger window. The rest of the game does.

Change
[BLACK_SPACE:YES]
to
[BLACK_SPACE:NO]

Or, if you use graphics, change
[GRAPHICS_BLACK_SPACE:YES]
to
[GRAPHICS_BLACK_SPACE:NO]

I think you're looking for [WINDOWED: NO] in init.txt.
Or else make the window bigger. I use:
[WINDOWEDX:100]
[WINDOWEDY:40]
