I made the dwarf fortress folder i played in hidden and it would no longer save the data of my game after i attempted to save 2 times after reloading the original save file i had since the folder was hidden. Once i unhide the folder, the game saved no problem.

I'll add to this. If you happen to preserve a backup autosave folder, then recreate a world and start a new game, the game will lock up while autosaving because of the folder already existing.
