Ridiculously Out of Place Enemies
« on: January 26, 2011, 11:49:55 pm »

As I cut a swath of destruction through the terrible beasties of my world, I was assigned to kill a Jungle Titan. ALRIGHT! I thought. SURELY THIS BEING WILL BE A WORTHY FIGHT.

I trekked many miles north, until finally I happened upon the temple. And within, the beast. I took a good look.

It was made of snow. A Jungle Titan. Made of snow.

Needless to say, it perished rapidly.

So, what enemies have you faced that were in a ridiculously inappropriate environment?

I'm currently making a nice room for my legendary clerk. I always treat my legendaries with the greatest respect, giving them the best rooms and so on. Although the walls are mostly engraved with pictures of my miner starving to death after he fell down a well, so it's not too cheerful.

When I pierced the circus and went down with my adventurer, the weakest variety of clown there were eight legged pandas composed of snow.

I just thought it was weird for something made out of snow to be there, and... eight legged pandas.

I have never before heard of anything remotely panda-like in Dwarf Fortress before, and this kind of makes me want to strip mine cotton candy in an attempt to get into the circus and pandas. Because I hate them and want to teach them a lesson.

I am 99.9% sure pandas would have to have been modded in for this to happen lol

Guessing the circus is hell.

I duplicated the raws, started an adventurer and found dwarves and elves swapped. Just think about that. Can you think of anything more out of place than elves in mountainhomes.

(This is relevant to the thread as elves are enemies to every single DF player.)

Guessing the circus is hell.

That guess would be correct.

That would be incorrect. Random nasties can be all kinds of critters that aren't in the normal game. Here's the complete list (warning, long):

regardless, the slime shooter will be completed, come hell or high water, which are both entirely plausible setbacks at this point.
