Millstones Cancel All Jobs (33g)
« on: January 30, 2008, 04:48:00 am »

I have 3 millstones attached to a gear attached to 2 water wheels.  The power system consumes 74 units total.

Whenever a dwarf mills a plant every stone's milling job is deleted.  There is no message generated and the jobs are not repeated even if you turn on the repeat function.  They just get deleted.
I have empty bags, but even if I didn't I should get a cancellation message.  All the milling jobs just vanish.  Unmilled plants are piling up in the room, and unless I enqueue a new milling job every time a dwarf mills a plant no milling gets done.

Edit: DF version # 33g

It seems like the millstones are losing power or something; magma workshops exhibit the same (equally irritating) behavior when they don't have enough magma.

Maybe millstones are more of a drain when in use? Try adding moar powar and see if that helps, though honestly with two waterwheels you shouldn't have a problem.

It's probably losing power.  Waterwheels are notorious for not having constant power.

Yup, when the power strobes all the jobs auto-cancel.

I'm redesigning the tail run to carry more water at reduced flow and the penstock to carry more water at a higher flow.  If I can get the water to slow down under the wheel that will (oddly) make the wheels more likely to meet the requirement of having running water under them at a level >= 4.  That's the theory, anyway.
