Kadol Mengborik, the Second Morul
« on: January 24, 2011, 04:05:12 pm »

I am attempting to bring Morul Cattenmat up to speed. Today, I started Channelpage, in which the sprightly 55yo female Kadol Mengborik attempts to become the Second Most Interesting Dwarf in the World by becoming legendary in everything (except just maybe healthcare- I can use suggestions for that), but now in DF 2010.

We started on 1st Granite 1055. It's now 22nd Galena, 1055, and she's working on woodcutting- she got Mining down on 4th Galena.
I have disabled invasions. Later on I'll mod granite to produce strands for extraction and other fish for dissection, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

Done
4th Galena, 1055- Miner
Current
Woodcutter
Future
Carpenter
Mason
Engraver
Stonecrafter
Weaver
Clothesmaker
Gem Cutter
Gem Setter
Weaver
Grower
Brewer
Butcher, Tanner (at the same time)
Leatherworker
Bone Carver
Thresher
Miller
Milker
Cheese Maker
Cook
Fisherdwarf
Fish Cleaner
(Fish Dissector?)
Hunter
Trapper
Animal Caretaker
Animal Trainer
Animal Dissector
Wood Burner
Lye Maker
Potash Maker
Soap Maker
Mechanic
Pump Operator
Woodcrafter
Siege Engineer
Siege Operator
Furnace Operator
Weaponsmithing
Armoring
Blacksmithing
Metalcrafting
(Strand Extractor?)

Further along I'll do the military. Healthcare will be a bitch, suggestions appreciated.

@Footjob, you can microwave most grains I've tried pretty easily through the microwave, even if they aren't packaged for it.

For health care: Let some haulers spend a few stabs in the danger room with no armor.

It may be possible to train up healthcare by using a slightly more dangerous danger room on migrants and nobles.

You could have berries on the rocks and the dwarves would say it was "berry gneiss."
You should die horribly for this. And I mean that in the nicest possible way.

Wooden spikes instead of training spears.

That'll just improve her masonry skill as she makes fucktons of coffins.

For healthcare training, how about using the method from that from that thread a little bit ago, for dropping dwarves while they sleep? Lemme find it.

Edit: Found it.

21st Limestone: Kadol will get some extra carpentry skill in early- we need beds made. She's a skilled woodcutter.
The fortress is getting a weird layout, because the efficiency of Urist McPlumber is not very important, while Kadol's is. Since he is a woodcutter at the moment, the food stockpile and his bedroom are outside, and never mind those miners who need to get a drink.

15th Sandstone- Kadol is getting tired of eating the same old food lately. It's a good thing I brought all those dogs- I easily have twenty puppies. Time to take a break from woodcutting and get started on the butchery-tanning-cooking arc.

Does anybody have a table of what actions give how much experience?

I think it's this:

Designations give 10 xp/task
Workshop jobs and live combat give 30 xp/(job|action)

I have no idea about military practice.

OK, edit.

My fortress design is spiraling out of control.

THEREFORE

I'm going to start a new fort that's more logical.

No, if the design doesn't work then you make it work.
