Yes it is.  Check the wiki page for attributes (df.magmawiki.com) for more information.

I play demigods whom I give superior strength, agility, and toughness from the start and I usually see those improve towards superdwarven levels within the first encounter. Other attributes take a lot longer to improve, and some are probably utterly useless, and hence not possible of being raised, in adventure mode. I'm talking about things like musicality or creativity.

The only attributes that matter afaik are: Strength, Agility, Toughness, Endurance, Focus, Willpower, Spatial Sense, and Kinetic Sense

Yikes, the Orcs have a nasty language.  Traditional foreplay would be right out for them; how would they ever "say my name" for one another?  No wonder Ocrs are always so bloodthirsty and violent, they're getting sub-par action.

And Recuperation so you don't bleed to death.

Actually, there are a few more:

Recuperation lets you heal faster (doesn't matter much because traveling seems to automatically heal all non-permanent wounds).

Disease resistance may help prevent infections, but since all wounds either heal the moment you travel or never, there's not really much point.

Intuition seems to give a bonus to the observer skill, letting you see sneaking enemies (they don't exist yet) and making it more likely that you'll get "You feel uneasy" instead of being ambushed.
