RNG seeded before generating world name
« on: November 06, 2007, 11:36:00 am »

Not sure if this is a bug or not, but I think that it interferes with distributing world seeds. The RNG is seeded before generating a random world name, so depending on whether you choose a world name or leave it random you get completely different worlds using the same seed.

Actually it seems like world seeds are very unreliable as I'm getting different maps from the intended pregenned world with both random and non-random world names.

What's up with that?

What seed are you using? What is the resulting map supposed to be? Does it do the same in 32a as 33a? Its already a known 'issue' (which may or may not be fixed) that the RNG is modified by the random world name gen after the seeding, so a fixed seed map with a fixed name will be different than one with a random name.
But there should only be two 'outcome' maps, one from a fixed name and one from a random name, for each seed.
Are you seeing something different?
