Dwarf in cage?
« on: January 20, 2011, 10:03:32 am »

Some dwarves passed out in a cage trap. They're in the animal stockpile. There won't be traders for months and I can't build their cages to deconstruct them. Help!

@Footjob, you can microwave most grains I've tried pretty easily through the microwave, even if they aren't packaged for it.

Why can't?
You should build them and then free that dwarf. Then deconstruct empty cage, if needed.

Hit b then j for building Cages, now you have to assignt the building zone so press enter on the tile you want the cage to be set. After that you get a list, expand it with x, now you should see some "Dwarf Cage" pick these and wait for construction.

Make the dwarf into a zoo.

They're fine. But they're injured, my healthcare industry isn't really set up yet, and they don't have any friends, so I'm going to lock the doors in the hospital and wait for them to die.

Can't you theoretically keep them in the cage until doctors are ready?

Won't really make a difference; cages aren't quite temporal stasis chambers, and the dwarf will still require health care, food, and water, and will probably get an infection (if it doesn't already have one from sitting in the animal stockpile. Whew!).
