[38c] Glass Production Queue Issue
« on: March 29, 2008, 02:21:00 pm »

Running version 38c.
I have 6 Magma Glass furnaces built, they are currently unpowered (no magma flow to them at all), and 1 basic fuel powered glass furnace(works with normal manual task additions).
Queuing any job for them on the Manager[m], an example of which might be "Make enormous green glass corkscrew"x2, causes the job to never be executed in any of the furnaces. Even though the manager has ok'd them.

To be clearer, jobs aren't queuing in any of the furnaces, 6 of which aren't usable (unpowered) and one of which is freely usable and works fine with manual use.

The only notable exception I can tell is Collect Sand, which will queue from the manager with this setup.

Edit: Also notable is that there are no error messages produced at all, it just seems to miss the step where it picks a shop to add the jobs to.

I'm not immediately sure why it would be doing this.  If you have a save it would be easy to fix.  If so, I'll need the region folder in some kind of zip/rar/7z, and any new objects that were added to the raw folder.  If it's less than 20 megs, you can send it to toadyone@bay12games.com.  You can also try The Dwarf Fortress File Depot which has a special section for bugged saves.

Update:

Source found on bug issue, there's a third piece of the puzzle. *Check edit at bottom.
Trying to remember how it was set up when the error was occurring I unbuilt one of the magma glass furnaces and then set it to be built again and suspended it before the architect queued the job.

This reproduced the error and glass jobs will no longer go to workshop from the manager screen.

So I have 5 unpowered magma glass furnaces, 1 build-suspended pre-architecture one, and one normal fuel using glass furnace.

Here's the save with the suspended building: http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=80

Edit: Further researching, the problem doesn't seem alleviated after finishing the suspended shop. Rather in all honesty it would seem that the suspended furnace might not be related at all after watching this for a few more dwarf months. It might simply have something to do with the random mechanics of shop assigning, which would explain why some job batches seem to queue in shops fine while others simply sit with a green check forever.

Okay, I've downloaded it and I'll take a look at some point.

Yeah, it's the unpowered magma glass furnaces.  It's sticking the jobs in there and then they are being automatically cancelled without notice.  They only last for one frame, so it's almost impossible to catch it happening without debugging.  I'll just stop them from being placed.
