Do you really want the FCC, regulating internet?

What, you mean like they regulate the phone companies?

Nobody sane suggests that the phone companies should be allowed to determine who you can and can't call; this was settled law fifty years ago. You can pick up your phone and call whoever you want- your aunt Bertha even if she is a bit of a cunt, your dealer, even your Representative to tell him that cable laid through public property shouldn't have its content privately controlled. In other words, we enjoy phone neutrality, even if we don't call it that.

The Internet might be a little more complicated but the principle is the same. The only difference is that now we have a lot more fascists who honestly don't see the problem with allowing large organizations to monopolize and control communication.

Sure, but you do so at your own risk as I'm rather spiky.

I'm surprised everyone is turning to the government to do what a good old fashioned boycott used to acheive.
Well, there are a fair few monopolies in place, and a lot of people need to access the internet for work or study.  Plus, well... the government can actually provide a universal solution rather than the isolated progress that would result from repeated, sporadic boycotts.

Well, um. Wow. This is pretty depressing.

So, anyone up for starting a new society?
