mequema amare

in an ambush i got an elf that instead of being a warrior all it says is <name> mequema amare.  what does this mean?

Maybe he's some leader or he killed someone and got a title?

That is an extra name granted to the enemy for success in battle, as shlorf said.  The game ran out of room to display things.

If you're in Fortress Mode, fiddle around with menu placement (tab-key by default, I believe).  See if you can get more space off to the right of the name.  Or go to the "U"nit screen, or fiddle around with different unit-viewing setups like that, until you get more space.  The enemy's job is listed just out of sight off of the page.
