Converting DF .avi files

Hey guys i'm making a series of Let's Plays on DF and I'm running into trouble converting the video.  I'm using a joiner software but sometimes one of the video segments never finishes converting.  Anyone else have a similar problem?  This doesn't always happen but lately it is.
