33f: Traders accepting stupid trades
« on: December 16, 2007, 01:45:00 pm »

As per the title. I've literally just traded a glove for an anvil and the human traders are proper over the moon about it

World created in 33c and transported over. World also contains a save from another fortress from a season change before i disabled the option

Can provide saves and anything else if needed

its a nice bug but I feel like I'm cheating those dirty humans too much and its on my conscious  :(

Do you know the value of the objects you traded?

not precisely. I'm aware the glove came off the severed hand of a dwarf I started out with so I'd imagine its value wasn't much. It wasn't an artifact or anything like that (I haven't had many fey moods for some reason)

It seems to have righted itself now, since I remembered the nobles screen and appointed new nobles for the ones that had died (Treasurer, Mayor and something else I think) all trade is as it used to be. Except some elves left in a rage after I tried to trade them a wooden spear >_<

Basically I was just doing random trades of all the clothes of my dead dwarfs for food from the human traders. My fort was on its last legs and I needed some quick supplies. Anyhow, I noticed that every offer I was making was being accepted. So i had a quick check to make sure it wasn't just me making big of nothing. Traded a couple of bone bolts for a bar of some metal expecting it to get refused, but it went thru. So thats when I tried this glove for the anvil

I'll reload the save and see if I can replicate it. The traders are just in the depot on it

Do you have a trade agreement with them? Giant cave spider silk is worth a fortune and with a good trade agreement you can get the value of a giant cave spider silk glove up over 1000.

hmm, an interesting point. I'll call shenanigans on this bug as I can't seem to replicate it. tbh I skip a lot of the whole trade agreement section of the game. I'm more trying to learn everything else before I start concentrating on the economy properly. I think theres a good chance this is what it could be, especially being unable to view the amount it was worth courtesy of no treasurer

lesson learnt fellow dwarven overlords. nobles do come in handy some times :P

cheers for all the input, if it resurfaces I'll update this thread as needed  :)
