Light under pillars
« on: December 16, 2007, 01:27:00 am »

I recently constructed a pillar right next to my main entrance. (a wall for building a tower)  1 level below, the ground is considered light/inside/above ground (the pillar is considered so as well)

As amused as I am to see grass INSIDE my fortress, I think something must be awry.  I'm also worried that future walls over my underground farms may screw up my farming.
This may well be related to the previous 33e bug with farms.

Constructions don't confer subterranean status, although there's an issue with them being built on unconstructed floors for 33f.

I could make the terrain regrowth function use outside in addition to light for grass.  I haven't yet made "dark" happen in areas that should be dark because you've boxed them in.

no this is the same bug as in the topic "33f wall bug"
Constructions should not remove existing status.

Sorry for being unclear.

So you're saying that if you build a structure outside above an underground area that you dug out, then the underground area is now considered outside?

AFAIK, only if you build walls/floors directly above a mined out area.  Building constructions one z-level above doesn't affect the subterranean designation.  At least, that's the way it works for me.
