How do I install a mod?

So, I'm getting bored with adventure mode lately, and I decided to try the Genesis mode because it seems pretty damn awesome (does it work with 0.31.18?). So, after I download it, how do I actually install it? Also, would I need to generate a new world after I install it?

I was in this position like 2 weeks ago :)

You just download Genesis. It comes with everything you need.

You do need a program to unzip the file. I suggest 7zip (I believe it's called)

Yeah, Deon includes a full copy of Dwarf Fortress in the Genesis download, so you just need to unzip it and start playing!
