Pumping up the megabeast.
« on: January 03, 2011, 05:14:32 am »

I've been working on a small mod of mine, mostly adding plethora of new animals (and a walrus man civilization), but one of the megabeasts is quite frail at the moment.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

It seems to be especially vulnerable to crossbow headshots. Any suggestions?

You could define a new tissue layer for the head's skin inside the creature definition?
eg.
Code: [Select]
[TISSUE:HEAD_SKIN]
    [TISSUE_NAME:skin:skin]
    [TISSUE_MATERIAL:LOCAL_CREATURE_MAT:SKIN]
[RELATIVE_THICKNESS:10] higher thickness to resist the bolts
    [VASCULAR:5]
    [PAIN_RECEPTORS:5]
    [HEALING_RATE:100]
    [CONNECTS]
    [TISSUE_SHAPE:LAYER]

Agree, plus that's about the LAST thing *I* want to see from this kind of game - author spending valuable development time on useless graphics.

nostun mentioned twice. No special attacks, skills, difficulty or equipment. He's basically a naked giant monkey, no wonder he die fast.

Try some natural skills. Ten tonnes isn't earthshatteringly large either could up that. Also, your description says it has no facial features other than eyes, yet it possesses a mouth, a bite attack, roars are mentioned in the prefstring and it's associated with lies. Jealousy makes sense I guess if it envies our noses.

With the facial features I ment that it's face looks entirerely like a black blob with eyes and not much of a mouth, but instead just a gaping hole. And I think it would serve bit better as a semi-megabeast though.

YES, HE WILL ENVY OUR NOSES 'TILL THE END OF TIME.
