Visiting my old fortress, elves, dwarves.

I've been playing fortress mode for a while now and i love it! My fortress was destroyed by a combination of demons, goblins and starvation (last dwarf starved so starvation took the honor from the forces of hell  :P) and now i want to go to my fortress in adventure mode. Im searching for my fortress and at the same time exploring the world killing evil things. Problem is i only seem to be able to meet humans. Everytime i visit a forest retreat it's empty. Dark fortress, nothing there. Mountainhomes, nothing there. Can you only meet humans in the current ver? Can i visit my old fortress or will it be like all the other dwarven places, a location on the map but nothing there?

*Also thanks alot to the youtube user '51ppycup', without your tutorials i would've never played this game!

You're right, all you the towns you can find in this current version belong to humans unless you do some modding. Your fortress, on the other hand, will still be there along with the fun things that killed it.

You can visit your fortress (along with the items in it), finding it may not be easy unless you remember the location where you made it. You can also find it first through start new fortress:reclaim, cancel that and then go to your adventure.
