Bridges block channeling even when raised
« on: March 22, 2008, 07:40:00 pm »

I built a moat, and, while it was digging, scheduled a bridge to be made. Naturally this prevented me from doing some of the channeling the moat needed, but I figured I'd raise it after it was done and complete my digging then. However, even when raised, the space the bridge occupies when lowered is labeled as being part of the bridge, and is therefore un-designatable for channeling. This makes sense for the opposite end of the bridge, which is needed to support it when it's lowered, but not for the middle area; at least, that's my thinking on the matter.

As a workaround, you can try digging ramps on the squares under the bridge. That will remove the floor tiles, and you can then remove the ramps ("d"->"z") to prevent invaders from climbing through your moat.

I'm not entirely sure that will work (digging ramps under trees is wonky, for instance) but you could give it a try.

This is a convenience for me at this point, since the building rectangle retains the building flag and that dodges various issues.  I can do more nuanced behavior later on.
