Cortex Command? Dwarf Fortress? What now?

I'm confused. What exactly is this going to be?

Translation for those who can't read annoying elven cursive:
Image One:
"On one sleepy summer morning, the guards watched as a group of strange siege engines appeared on the horizon.  Hours passed without any further movement.  The attack began at dawn..."
Image Two:
"As stone objects began to fall from the sky, the brave militia commander rallied the troops..."
Image Three:
"So began the story of DWARF COMMAND

So...is this a pre-made fortress survival scenario? Or just a game without ghosts? :P

Just background that is unimportant, all you need to know is that there are dwarves (guys with beards sprited on) defending themselves against goblins (guys with green skin sprited on) that are falling from the sky.

This will be very brief but I'll do my best to make it interesting and not use Chrishands.ttf ever again.

I like background information. This is a very creative community.

Sounds interesting...I'll stay tuned.

Angry Steve signs up for Fortress Defence duty!
As the first applicant, you get the character of Angry Steve, the cigar chompin', curb stompin', badass militia commander. He weilds a strange device that shoots small metal balls at high velocity, something countless inventors have been attempting for many years. He just found it on the ground.

Ammo Dwarf here. Ready to fight an endless battle against incoming green skins as we try to buy time for the six mountain homes under our protection. I will load the ammo stocks for our three catapults and fix said catapults should the need arise. Leftenant BlackHat, Ammo Dwarf.

I'll just sign up, knowing full well that my guy will be reduced to a fine red paste anyway.

Tosid Delertekkud signing up. He has (hopefully) mastered the art of pick-fu (and many other digging tools in general).

You realise this is cortex command. I don't think you can use melee weapons. Also NobodyPro, doing two things(That I know of) Is bad for morale.
Edit:In the same damn section too. The other is right below it. I wanna join too. Something that sets people on fire would be nice.

I know there are no actual melee weapons, but I like to abuse the digging tools so very very much. It's bloody hilarious to divebomb into a clone with a heavy digger.
