Cavern Heights

Easy question, what settings would be good for a lot of room, then all 3 caverns deep down really close together? I never manage to get the Z Levels Above correct...

I think it's the way towns develop now. In the beginning, people move into a town. Then they start producing tables, which results in more and more tables. Soon tables represent a significant portion of the population, they start lobbying for new laws and regulations, putting people to greater and greater disadvantage...

The default setting is 1 for "above layer 2" and 3 and 4.  This means there is only one z-level between one cavern and the next.

Do note, however, that means the difference between the lowest level the cavern ever reaches and the highest level the cavern ever reaches for the entire region, meaning that there are often several more z-levels than you actually specified, because there is some sort of "peak" that is off-screen that makes the rest of the cavern slide lower down.

Personally, I like [DF] because after climbing the damned learning cliff, I'm too elitist to consider not liking it.
