New "Starter" For adventure mode
« on: December 22, 2010, 10:20:06 pm »

Possibly, you could start your character out, as a child who was kidnapped by goblins, and was brainwashed to fight for the goblins? But, when the player controls the character, its like normal adventure mode, BUT you start in a dark tower.

Hows this sound?

You mean a backstory/History?

Sounds interesting...

Then just being a randomly genrated person who suddenly decides there bored with there life and goes on suicide missions trying to bring as many people with them as possible

Isn't that "RUSS"?   :)

Not a bad idea to be pegged in the possible character archetypes to play once back stories and the like are in the pipe line.  Are you intending in this suggestion that the brainwashing has been broken, and you're free to adventure on your whim, or are you still an evil tool of the gobbo civ?  The later might be challenging to make interesting, as all the interactions currently in the works seem to be geared towards an altruistic, heroic adventurer, not to a murderous traitor to the race from which you were stolen.

Not really. More detail on crime is in the works, Such as getting rid of the omnipotent civs. I can see a gobbo slave backstory as focusing on a lot of asassinations and perhaps trying to rise in power within the goblin civilisation. The usual way, through murder.

Specifically:

Quote from: dev_single
# SCENARIOS ARC: Character generation is due for a major change. The current plan is to have an interactive history generator that takes your character from birth to a playable age, incorporating them into the fabric of the world. Pressing "Play Now!" would answer the questions automatically, perhaps with a strong tendency to place you in dire/interesting situations. Related to Core75, Core76, Req214, Req317, Bloat26 and Bloat143.

# Core75, ADVENTURER GENERATION AND SCENARIOS, (Future): The adventurer is quite a nebulous object at this point. There are a variety of angles that can be taken here, from weaving the adventurer fulling into their starting location's history, actually playing an existing creature in the world, creating starting scenarios that at least make sense of the adventurer's existence and/or mysterious arrival, etc.
