New Player Question
« on: December 19, 2010, 05:12:42 am »

I've put in a good 50+ hours to DF but I admit, i'm still a newb, but totally addicted.  I put in most of my time playing with an old version and recently updated to the DF2010 with the ironhand tile set. I have two questions/problems i'm hoping someone can help me with...

My carpenter and mason workshops are CLT... They consist of bins/beds and doors. I have sufficient space in my stockpiles and I have haulers to do the job but nothing is being moved. I removed one of the workshops and the contents went all over the floor and still nobody makes an attempt to put them in stockpiles unless i specify for that item to be used (bed). Any idea what i'm doing wrong? Also is there a way to see what items is in a shop? Wiki says "q"/"t" for "view items in buildings", but that doesnt seem to work. Okay... next question..

On the left hand side of the screen I have 3 status letters and i'm not sure what any of them mean. They are a red "C", a green "H" and a blue "S". I'm thinking this may relate to my CLT problem but I honestly have no idea and i'm extremely frustrated. Any help is appreciated. Thanks guys and gals.

- Reese.

Are your stock piles for furnature? Do you have haulers with the right labor on?

Yup. I have plenty of stockpile space. I've made multiple new furniture and finish goods stockpiles just to be sure. As far as haulers, I have 75 dwarves and about 50+ of them have hauling on. Again, any help is appreciated, especially on the statuses C, H and S. Thanks again :)

I have NEVER figured out what the CLT in the workshops means, but it's irrelevant, I think.

As for viewing items in buildings, did you just press [t] or [q][t]? [t] by itself should work. The 'CHS' on the left are reports, and stand for
(C)ombat
(H)unting
(S)parring
Press [r] to view reports. The only other thing I can think of about the hauling problem is that the furniture is outside your burrows, but that doesn't make any sense. Hmmm...

CLT means the workshop is cluttered ; when there are too many objects on the workshop, it takes more and more times to make new ones.
As for your stockpiles, have you tried to view the advanced settings of your stockpiles ? Perhaps your furniture is in a material that is not allowed on the stockpiles you made.
Are you using a mod ?

When you say you have dwarves with "hauling" labor on, which hauling is it ?
Last possibility, are you sure there is a path between your workshop and the stockpiles ?

Figured it out. I'm not used to the set orders option and apparently I had set "gather furniture" to ignore. Thanks for the assist.
