I would not go with asking "Are you interested," though, because that can look like you're trying to protect yourself.  Put your cards on the table first, and then ask.

On the subject of sexism...
I'm the kind of guy who holds doors for people 'cause I'm a nice person.
There is a very big difference between sexism and being helpful,
but if in the case of the computer equipment, I'd expect the person who
doesn't have their hands full to open a door. And I do agree that the
stereotype of males paying for everything is sexist, insulting, but I don't
see it going anywhere, so I'm not sure what to do in that case.
Anyway, I found out the girl isn't into the guy, or anyone at the moment.
But, hey, I'm in high school, so how much more time do I have? Lots.

To the OP, things are best done simply. Just ask!

As for the whole sexism thing...I guess it's pretty ingrained in me, but I think it's right for the men to pick up the tab. Splitting is okay only if you really did forget your money, heh. And plus, when she says that you can split the bill, you gain bonus points for refusing and paying for the whole thing. Then again, I guess I think this way because I don't have any severe money issues, and haven't gone out with any golddiggers.
