How to get back into the game?

Basicly, I stopped playing DF for the period of about a year and a half, due to my computer not cutting. However, i've recently obtained a much stronger computer that is able to play at a decent level. However, i'm having some issues 'getting back into the game'. When I try to start playing, i'll be going for roughly 10 minutes then its like I get a case of burn out and close the game without even thinking about it. Any suggestions as to how I can keep myself interested to the point things get Fun?

Embark in a Terrifying zone. Or haunted. Theres some real !!FUN!!.

Embark with a specific goal in mind, like reaching the new Hell. Heck you probably haven't even seen the new caverns yet.

You say a terrifying biome, but whenever I try them I only get a couple of zombie elk now and then. Any tricks I can mess about with in the world gen to make it more FUN?

Head on over to the modding forum, they can help you. Deon's Genisis is popular, but not at all to my taste, seems some things in it were made to make life too easy. If there is a up to date version of dig deeper, then that should suit your needs.

you can toy with advanced parameters to increase the amount of evil biomes. just leave enough neutral for the dwarf civs to spawn. Assuming you don't want to mod.

make sure there are evil creatures in that biome.  I don't think all biomes have any evil save undead

I'm having the same problem. Getting a fort started is boring. It's the expansion and projects I had fun with.
