I'll take a look at it when I get back to work.

Thanks, Toady.  Just FYI, I did make general stockpiles so that the food wouldn't rot.  If you delete those, the dwarves do not move the food to the custom stockpiles.

Enjoy the rest of your "vacation"!

I figured out the problem. I think someone mentioned it earlier, but here it is:

For some reason, on a custom stockpile the new options "Allow Plant/Animal" and "Allow Non-Plant/Animal" are kinda screwy. No idea what they do, but if they're greyed out, the dwarves won't use the stockpile. I got the little idjits to start using the stockpile by activating both of these options-now they actually put stuff where I tell them.

This is a Dwarven corpse. All craftsdwarfship is of the highest quality. It is encircled with bands of pathetic and menaces with spikes of fail.

Might be why I haven't been having a large issue.  I've never touched those settings.  Worst I had was them storing meat in my seed stockpile until I created a geneal food pile (so they'd harvest).

I haven't touched those options either.  Unless they are somehow toggled without my toggling them, it's not that.

Those options are to allow you to make piles which are elf-safe.

Ignore this.  It was a very silly human error thing, which I've now fixed.

I've got a bug with people moving food onto stockpiles they shouldn't be... but after looking at it several times, I think what's going on is that they're just using empty barrels that just happen to be on a stockpile, even if it's the wrong kind of stockpile. I know I've seen them dump food into barrels that are on a furniture stockpile that is restricted to only allowed barrels (near my stills), I just haven't caught them on video doing that yet.

Anyway, here's a video I managed to capture of one of my dwarves doing this.

As i say in the description there, I didn't catch the first fish on video; in fact, it was seeing him do that that made me start recording in the first place when I saw that he had another food hauling task. I do go and point out the fish that he had hauled just before recording started; notice it's the only one in the barrel...

But I didn't check the one that I actually caught him hauling, and I'm really kicking myself for that now  :(

This is on version 33a (first fortress on this world, which was also generated on 33a).
