Scared up a tree
« on: December 07, 2010, 11:38:19 pm »

Ugh.  I think I know how he got there and, as hilarious as it was for a few minutes, the gobbo stuck clinging to the topmost branch of a Larch outside the only entrance to my fort is now becoming annoying.  Everyone's doing an entrance dance for a helpless invader who is experiencing the joys of random direction dodging off a cliff and onto an invalid tile.  The entrance dance means I can't get the raw materials to a workshop to make more ammo to shoot him down.  This is... an interesting situation.

have some dwarf cut down a different tree, build a craftsdwarves shop, cut down more trees, and then make lots of wooden bolts.  make some wooden crossbows to shoot the gobbo down.

This is a useful feature..and this is DF.. so im gonna assume its bugged
That's what cages and minecart shotguns are for!  We don't need to control them.  We just need to aim them.

not sure if this would work, but you could try to collapse the tree by digging a 3x3 area out from under it and then constructing up ramps on the 8 tiles around the edge since i believe up ramps pierce the floor above.

While adding magma to anything will make it dwarfy, adding the word "magma" to your post does not necessarily make it funny.

this is cliff side, so I was going to collapse something on top of him.  it's taking near forever, though, so I think I'll wait for tomorrow when I can micromanage it better.

Mine a temporary exit to gather resources, or use a tower-cap crossbow and bolts.

Designate the squares around the tree as a high-traffic zone, and keep him there as your fort's mascot.

Until the next titan comes.

Now I'm picturing some cowardly goblin sitting in a tree, throwing branches and acorns down at anyone who walks near him. This is like that goblin that fell into someones moat, found the one spot that was shallow enough for him to survive in, and spent the rest of his days scaring anyone who tried to cross the bridge.

Blind the dwarves via modding and chop down the tree? If they can still sense it while standing next to the tree, then try building a bridge to the goblin.

I am trying to make chickens lay bees as eggs. So far it only produces a single "Tame Small Creature" when a hen lays bees.
Honestly at the time, I didn't see what could go wrong with crowding 80 military Dwarves into a small room with a necromancer for the purpose of making bacon.
