A fisherdwarf is trying to fish and can't find any fish. Afaik you can't do anything about it.

I get these quite a bit.  "There is nothing to catch in the eastern ocean"...  Seems unlikely.

Honestly, I haven't caught a single fish since the move from 40d. I think there's still problems with water temperature and it's killing off all the vermin fish.

I haven't generally had problems fishing on most maps with rivers/streams/brooks/etc.  I've had mixed results with fishing in pools but in generally pretty good.

I assume its just a message you get when the fishermandwarf was unsuccessful but they'll go on to do better next time? I dunno, I'd get these from time to time but overall my fishing industry would be going ok, maybe it just takes time for fish to repopulate or something.

This happens where there are no vermin fish in a particular region of the map. When it occurs, the fisherdwarf will look for fish elsewhere.

For example, if a fisherdwarf finds no fish in the eastern swamps, he might go look in the river.

Fishing works, in one recent fort I had 3000+ prepared fish meals. (Not to mention the fish which hadn't been cooked yet.)

Occasionally I get fish in my river, most of the time I have nothing.

"Nobody wants to live in Townbrush, and for good reason. Almost everyone that has come to Townbrush has been eaten, stabbed, crushed, drowned, hacked, incinerated, or beaten to death with an octopre skin backpack. When we're not under siege, we're being attacked by Forgotten Beasts. And when we're not being attacked by Forgotten Beasts, there's probably a zombie whale crushing someone to death in the dining room."

I generally catch turtles most, but occasionally a fish will show up on the dinner table.

Who needs fish, Turtles are an inexhaustiable food source that give you shells to craft afterwords.

Turtles are very easy to fish to extinction in the current version.  Many sites don't have any, and those which do have them will be wiped out after a few years of heavy fishing.

You could mine out the tiles under the riverbed, change your climate to freezing, replace the riverbed and sides with stone blocks, turn temp back to scorching, and then call it an aqueduct. Which would make sense, since there aren't any fish in aqueducts.
