Farmer's Strike???
« on: December 04, 2010, 10:25:17 pm »

I abandoned my fortress because my dwarves were dying of thirst. Had no booze. Had no plants. Farmers were not planting anything.

I reclaimed. Rebuilt the farm plot because the mud wasn't there anymore. Selected to plant plump helmets in all seasons. I had plenty of seeds, but none of my farmers were planting them. I checked to make sure the farming labor was enabled, and it was...

Any ideas as to why Urist McFarmer isn't Farming, but instead letting my entire civilization crumble?

Did you select anything else?

Plump helmets is selected for all seasons you said, what about any of the fertilize options?

And I'm sure you've probably checked but the plot is on "Inside Dark Subterranean" right?

perhaps they just want to be a rogue element?
they enjoy the CHAOS of a falling fort.

Shame on them, anarchy is for smelly hippies.

Yes.

And my mason isn't using the stone from the stockpile right next to the workshop.

Is un-stockpiled stone somehow better?!

Did you change the game files in some way, from what you're describing (and assuming you didn't forbid anything) everything should be working fine.

When my brother started a fort this week he had basically this same problem. I didn't give the issue an in-depth look but there should be no reason why he couldn't get planting.

OP mentions nothing of unforbidding everything after reclaim.

ooo this is true. Make sure you reclaim everything you want back on the map, after a reclaim everything from the previous fort is forbidden by default.

Are you shure all the tiles are suited? If one tile is for any reason unsuited for farming the whole farm isn't workable! Try to break your farm into several smaller farms.
