Babies are OP
« on: December 03, 2010, 07:51:07 am »

"The Troglodyte grabs the Dwarven Baby by the third toe, left foot with his left hand!
The Dwarven Baby attacks the Troglodyte but he jumps away!
The Dwarven Baby punches the Troglodyte in the lower body with his right hand, bruising the muscle and bruising the guts!
The Troglodyte looks sick!
The Troglodyte vomit
s."

As soon as he turns 12, I'm enrolling that tiny badass in the military. No ifs or buts.

I don't mean to alarm you, but it appears that your Dwarves are all in fact elephants.

It's probably made from baby bone, with a handle of baby leather. Probably uses the leg bones wound together for the handle, the pelvis for the handle/pick joint, and the pick is the spine.

But that's all in theory, of course. Not like I've made a pick out of my own 5 month old baby before.

I'll ensure no accident happens with that one.
In other news, the troglodyte spent 3 pages vomiting instead of being threatening to anything. The baby is unharmed. I'm pleased.

How did the troglodyte get to the baby?

I think he was in his mother's harm; said mother did not actually interact at all during the fight, nor was targeted, and is also unharmed.

yeah the child ninjas are awesome.  In terms of game mechanics what probably happened was the trog took the swing, baby swings back and the mother meanwhile is running like hell so the combat ends (trog is too busy retching to pursue)

The baby of course gets wrestler and fighter experience so like you say...headstart on the military training.
A few forts back I had a similar issue with a dwarven child who liked to wander in and out of the danger room.  Each visit left him bleeding and needing hospital visits but having done this on no fewer than 7 occassions the little guy was a competant dodger by the time he came of age and went directly into the military

I wish I had something cool to say about this.  Because it's really cool.

Some baby rolled and dodged all of some forgotten beast's attacks in my fortress. That beast took easily ten times longer killing the baby than it took killing my dwarves.

Not entirely unrealistic, my niece had a vicious habit of headbutting me in the groin when she was about a year old...
