Prosthetic limbs?
« on: December 02, 2010, 05:27:16 pm »

Okay so I had a brilliant idea, and I bet it is impossible.
But what about prosthetic limbs for dwarves? It would be cool to re-mobilize dwarves who have lost one or both legs, or even feet.
I'm not so sure about hands, but legs would work, if this was implementable at all.
Is it possible?

No. Crutches are as good as you're going to get.

Real modders design dwarves that need no feet.

Peg legs and hook hands would be pretty awesome.

Perhaps one could make a modded crutch that doesn't require a grasp?
It's probably hardcoded.

Hmm... Research HO?

At this point its mostly hardcoded. About all that you could do is set it so that dwarves healed quickly so that mangled limbs would heal. Other than that though, there isn't much we can do at this point.

It would be brutally difficult and probably won't work. In other words, it's absolutely dwarven!

Taking a look at the raws, I haven't been able to find crutches anywhere.

Crutches don't exist in the raws, no, the same way that furniture doesn't.

On a related note, you used to be able to mod out a bodypart temporarily, so that NO creature of that species had it, then save, mod it back, and reload, and the bodypart would be magically regrown!

It was a quick fix for adventurers who lost a limb and suchlike. I can't get it to work in the current version, and all I want is to fix my poor infected ear! Anyone have any luck?

Toady typically doesn't do things by half measures.  As evidenced by turning "make hauling work better" into "implement mine carts with physics".
There are many issues with this statement.
