298
My fort is founded in 299.
I find that appropriate. They founded that hobbit-dwarven-kingdom in 1999, third age

500 years on the dot. It's not so much that other civs have taken all the good embark spots, but it's not so little that no-one's had time to develop. I'm going for Fortress and Adventure mode, here.

I agree with Urist. Steampunk is like Darth Vader winning Holland's Next Top Model. It would be awesome but not something I'd like in this game.
Unfortunately dying involves the amputation of the entire body from the dwarf.

I've started 9999 years world gen yesterday and went to sleep, I guess it was finished in something like 3 hours.
Today I gave it a look. You know that wasn't worth it. It isn't completely dead as I've doubled number of civs and population cap. I've also doubled number of all monsters and tripled their variety (just for kicks).
Humies has occupied half of the world, the only surviving dwarven civilization occupying cold mountain range (humans don't live in such biomes) and the only elven occupies 3 tiles at the most distant from humies corner of the world. I guess it's only sheer amount of monsters that live in wilderness in the middle. I don't know about goblins.
This is how hummie empire looks, all tiles that aren't sandy are hamlets and towns.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Many night creatures have succumbed to RNG during fights with fish dissectors and peasants, leaving you without mediocore enemies for killing.
And the worst part is that game has problems with handling that amount of information. Legends screen takes huge amount of time to load and even during talking to someone in adventure mode game takes a pause before starting conversation.

The only reason I keep it is increased amount of caves, and inter-cavern slopes. After my adventurer perishes in the depths of the underworld I'll never return to this place.
