My dwarves are unable to chasm items. They will go to the item, grab it, and then say that they can't find a path to the chasm over and over again. I've attached a picture of that section of my fortress for reference. There's definately a clear path to the chasm, so I'm wondering if my magma aquaduct is confusing them or something.

You can see my refuse stockpile just next to the bridges across the river, and that the chasm is accessible.

Have you checked the door to the offshoot of the chasm you have in the middle, if its locked, tho the dwarfs should be able to find other routes (unless Sid Meier wrote the pathfinding).

Your sure its the dwarf in the refuse room that got the problem and not some dwarf where a tree has grown infront of his door so he cant exit and get the item to chasm?

Yeah, when I turn on "Dwarves Chasm

• ", I watch the dwarves go to the pile, grab a piece of
• and then sit there while the pathfinding announcements pile up.

  I tried locking and unlocking the doors to my magma chute to no avail, and what item I was chasming didn't seem to have any effect.

  Oh, I see, that door. Hm, no I haven't tried that option. I'll give it a spin later and report back.

Ive had the same problem, except my fortress only had 2 open areas touching the chasm,
1: Where i found it and bridged over
2: The opening to the channel filled with lava to try and flood it.

Huh. That did it. Unlocking the door in the middle of my dorms stopped the messages, and the dwarves all went to that door to drop the skulls.

Very odd, but I think still a bug since they didn't find the more obvious path above.

Hmm, its a feature, wonder what other problems the "bring to nearests X" causes...
It may be special code that causes the chasm thing to fail, I havent seen the problem with other jobs where there are multiple destinations.

Yeah, the path job seeks the nearest chasm square with adjacent walkable space, regardless of anything.  These problems are caused by that.

This is Bug 65 -- I'll change the wording to make it more clear next time I upload the bug list.
